The University of Auckland Partnership Appeal Award is a needs-based financial assistance award offered twice per year at the University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau, providing grants of between NZ$500 and NZ$5,000 to assist New Zealand citizens or permanent residents who are in their final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme and are experiencing significant financial hardship. Established in 2002, the award was created to support students who have demonstrated the ability to succeed academically but are at risk of being unable to complete their studies due to financial difficulty. In 2020, University of Auckland staff made additional contributions to the fund to extend support to postgraduate students in their final semester of study, reflecting the university’s deep institutional commitment to student welfare and degree completion.

Benefits of the Scholarship

This scholarship will provide the following to its recipients:

Award of between NZ$500 and NZ$5,000 to assist with study-related costs in the final year of study
Two rounds offered per year (closing April and July)
Open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in their final year

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

Must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
Must be enrolled in the final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme at the University of Auckland
Must be experiencing significant financial hardship that is affecting their ability to complete their studies
Must have demonstrated the ability to succeed academically in their programme

Selection Criteria
