The University of Auckland Partnership Appeal Award is a needs-based financial assistance award offered twice per year at the University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau, providing grants of between NZ$500 and NZ$5,000 to assist New Zealand citizens or permanent residents who are in their final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme and are experiencing significant financial hardship. Established in 2002, the award was created to support students who have demonstrated the ability to succeed academically but are at risk of being unable to complete their studies due to financial difficulty. In 2020, University of Auckland staff made additional contributions to the fund to extend support to postgraduate students in their final semester of study, reflecting the university’s deep institutional commitment to student welfare and degree completion.
The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading research university, Waipapa Taumata Rau, and is consistently ranked among the top 100 universities in the world. Home to over 40,000 students and offering programmes across six faculties Arts and Education, Business, Engineering and Design, Law, Medical and Health Sciences, and Science the university is deeply committed to equity, access, and student success.
