The Qatar Airways University Scholarship Programme provides financial and academic support to Qatari nationals and children of Qatari mothers who are recent high school graduates, enabling them to enrol in undergraduate Bachelor’s degree studies at accredited universities inside and outside the State of Qatar. The programme is part of Qatar Airways’ Al Darb Qatarisation initiative and is designed to develop Qatari national talent for future careers within the airline. Upon graduation, scholarship recipients join Qatar Airways under the Graduate Development Programme and are required to work with the airline for a minimum of five years. Applications are submitted through the Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education website, and a Letter of Interest must be submitted to the Ministry as part of the application process. Scholarship selection is made on a competitive basis for a limited number of scholarships per year as determined by Qatar Airways.

Accepted universities are located in Qatar, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, and the field of study must be on the Qatar Airways accepted list of study majors. All study and course subjects must be conducted in English, and the full Bachelor’s degree must not exceed four years. Qatar Airways reserves the right to change admission requirements, accepted study majors, accepted universities, and accepted study locations at any time without prior notice. Children of Qatari mothers must apply for scholarships through their universities, and their applications are only reviewed for local university studies within the State of Qatar.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

Must be a Qatari National or the student’s mother must be a Qatari National
Must be of good conduct and repute
Must be medically fit and pass all prescribed medical examinations
Must be above the age of 17 and below 24 years at the time of application
Must have graduated from High School within the past three years
Minimum High School overall score: 85% for Qatari National students and 90% for Qatari Mother students
Recent overall IELTS band score attained within the last 24 months: 5.5 (not less than 5.0 in each component) for Qatari National students, and 6.0 (not less than 5.0 in each component) for Qatari Mother students
The university field of study must be on the Qatar Airways accepted list of study majors
The chosen university must be accredited by the Qatar Ministry of Education and located in a country acceptable to Qatar Airways
Must submit a final unconditional letter of acceptance from an accredited university in an accepted field of study
For male Qatari Nationals, a statement of completion, exemption, or deferral of Qatar National Service is required
Must not be currently sponsored by any other entity or company
Must not be currently employed or working for any other entity
Must not be a former employee of Qatar Airways or have had a previously cancelled or terminated scholarship for disciplinary or academic reasons
Must have a Qatari National guarantor willing to repay Qatar Airways scholarship expenses in case of failure, withdrawal, or early resignation from Qatar Airways

Selection Criteria

Scholarship selection is made on a competitive basis among all applicants for a limited number of scholarships per year as determined by Qatar Airways. The process involves two stages: an initial shortlisting stage where Qatar Airways reviews all submitted documents and notifies shortlisted candidates to attend a personal interview with the selection panel, and may request additional tests or documents, followed by a final selection stage where successful candidates are required to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, pass required medical tests, provide a guarantor’s salary certificate, provide a local bank IBAN number, and sign the Scholarship Contract together with their guarantor.
