The 2026 University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships, comprising the Melbourne Research Scholarship (MRS) and the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship, are among Australia’s most prestigious fully funded postgraduate research awards. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must have applied for and meet the entry requirements for a Masters by Research or doctoral degree at the University of Melbourne, or be currently enrolled in a graduate research degree at the university
  • Open to both Australian domestic students and international students of all nationalities
  • New applicants who apply for a graduate research course by the application closing date for that course will be automatically considered for the scholarship — no separate application is required
  • Current students or those who have deferred their course commencement must submit an online scholarship application form by the relevant deadline
  • Factors such as completion of a degree at the same level, relevant professional experience, refereed publications, specialist qualifications, or composition of original music may also be taken into consideration
