Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU) provides competitive, merit-based scholarship programmes to attract and support outstanding graduate students demonstrating academic excellence, innovation, and leadership. These scholarships enable talented individuals from the UAE and around the world to contribute to advanced research and address global challenges in science, engineering, computing, and health, while advancing the university’s mission in research, innovation, and community engagement. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, research potential, field of study, and alignment with KU’s strategic priorities. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following:

Master’s Programme Applicants:

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent, e.g. upper second-class honours)
  • Must have a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 91 or an overall academic IELTS score of 6.5 (test centre only — home editions not accepted)
  • Must submit a minimum of two referee recommendations, a statement of purpose (500–1,000 words), and attend an admission interview
  • Must indicate interest in scholarship support in the admission application

PhD Programme Applicants (Regular PhD — with Master’s degree):

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 and a Master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.25 out of 4.0

PhD Programme Applicants (Direct PhD — without Master’s degree):

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 out of 4.0
  • Must have a minimum quantitative score of 150 in the GRE General Test (test centre only)

Both PhD Tracks:

  • Must meet English proficiency requirements (TOEFL iBT 91 or IELTS 6.5)
  • Must submit two referee recommendations, a statement of purpose (500–1,000 words), a research statement (500–1,000 words), and attend an admission interview

CSC-KU Joint PhD Scholarship (additional requirements):

  • Must be a citizen of the People’s Republic of China
  • Must have received an unconditional admission offer from Khalifa University
  • Must have official CSC scholarship approval prior to first registration at KU
  • Must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 throughout the programme

Selection Criteria

Khalifa University’s postgraduate scholarships are competitive and merit-based. All applicants who indicate an interest in scholarship support during the admission application process are automatically considered. Selection is based on academic achievement (CGPA), research potential, field of study, and alignment with KU’s strategic research priorities. For the CSC-KU Joint PhD Scholarship, final selection requires both KU admission approval and official CSC funding approval.
