The ARES International Training Scholarships 2027–2028 are offered by ARES (Académie de recherche et d’enseignement supérieur the Academy of Research and Higher Education) of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium, as part of its 2027–2032 five-year programme. These scholarships enable students and young professionals from 32 ARES partner countries to undertake a Specialised Bachelor’s degree, a one-year Specialised Master’s degree, or a six-month Continuing Professional Development course at an institution within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium. The programme aims to increase the level of qualifications of participants, empower people in their countries of origin, strengthen interpersonal and professional networks, improve the capacity of home institutions, and enable scholarship holders to become agents of change in their societies in favour of development.
ARES (Académie de recherche et d’enseignement supérieur) is the public body responsible for the organisation, articulation, and financing of higher education, research, and academic cooperation in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation of Belgium. ARES brings together all higher education institutions of the French-speaking community of Belgium universities, hautes écoles, schools of arts, and higher education promotion institutions and coordinates their international cooperation and development activities. Through its International Training Scholarships programme, ARES channels Belgian development cooperation funding to support highly qualified professionals from partner countries in the Global South in strengthening their skills and returning to contribute to the development of their home countries and institutions.
