Te Herenga Waka — Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) offers two flagship international scholarships for new international students: the VUW Undergraduate International Scholarship and the VUW Postgraduate International Scholarship, both established in August 2025 to replace and combine several previous scholarships including the Tongarewa International Scholarship, the Latin American Academic Achievement Scholarship, the International Alumni Fees Waiver, and the New Zealand International School-Leaver Grant. Both scholarships are partial fee-based awards applied directly to tuition fees — no scholarship application is required. Students are automatically assessed for eligibility upon applying for their programme, and recipients are notified in their Offer of Place.
