The Florida State University (FSU) First-Year Admissions Scholarships are a comprehensive suite of merit-based scholarships offered by the FSU Office of Admissions to all admitted first-year students. No separate scholarship application is required all students who submit a complete application by the priority deadline are automatically considered for merit scholarships based on their academic profile, including rigorous academic curriculum and test scores. Scholarship criteria vary from year to year depending on the academic profile of the incoming class and the funding available. Students awarded a scholarship are typically notified at the time their admission decision is made available on the Admissions Portal. FSU does not send notifications to students who were not offered a scholarship. Scholarship funds are limited, and students are strongly encouraged to apply early for admission. FSU typically does not engage in scholarship matching.

Scholarships value ranging from $4,000 to $42,000 over four years
Up to 100% out-of-state tuition waiver for eligible students
Some awards provide full or substantial cost-of-attendance support

Additional awards are available for National Merit, IB, and high-achieving students

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following:

All Admissions Scholarships (general):

Must be an admitted first-year student at Florida State University for the 2027 intake
Must submit a complete application by the priority deadline of December 1, 2026
Must have earned no grades below B in their academic record — scholarship recipients have typically maintained a strong academic record throughout high school

National Merit / Benacquisto Scholarship:

Must be a National Merit Finalist graduating with a standard high school diploma and awarded a National Merit, Corporate National Merit, or College-sponsored National Merit Scholarship
Must list FSU as first-choice institution with the NMSC by May 1 of the senior year

Presidential Scholars Program:

Must be a high school senior admitted to the FSU Honors Program
Must take a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher

IB Diploma Scholarship:

Must have earned the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
Must be a first-year applicant admitted to the Tallahassee Campus for the summer or fall term only

University Out-of-State Tuition Waiver (Talent):

Must be recommended by a Fine Arts major programme after completion of an audition, interview, and/or portfolio review
Must remain continuously enrolled in the specified major area of study

Grandparent Tuition Waiver:

Must have a grandparent who is a legal resident of Florida
Must be applying as a first-year, full-time undergraduate student for the summer or fall term immediately following high school graduation
Must have an SAT combined score (or ACT/CLT equivalent) no lower than the 89th national percentile

QUEST Scholars Program:

Must be a first-generation student or from a select school or community — selection is invitation-only during admission review

Illuminate Scholars Program:

Must be supported by the Federal Pell Grant — selection is invitation-only
