The University of Oxford Graduate Funding and Scholarships programme offers over 1,100 full or partial scholarships to new graduate students for the 2026–2027 academic year — in the 2024–25 academic year, just over 48% of new graduate students received full or partial funding from the University or other funders. For the majority of Oxford scholarships, no separate scholarship application is required applicants are automatically considered for all scholarships for which they meet the eligibility criteria when they submit their graduate application by the December or January deadline. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and potential, and may cover some or all of course fees and/or provide a living cost grant for the fee liability period.

Selection Criteria
For the majority of Oxford scholarships, including the Clarendon Fund, selection is based on academic merit and potential as assessed through the graduate application — no separate application or additional documentation is required. Most scholarships are awarded between late February and June, with approximate decision dates published in the A-Z of Scholarships. A scholarship may be awarded at the same time as, or after, an offer of a place from the department, and before or after a college place offer. For scholarships requiring a separate application which can be identified using the Fees, Funding and Scholarships Search applicants must follow the specific application process for each. For external scholarships, selection processes are managed by the awarding organisations independently of Oxford, and applicants should contact the relevant organisation directly for details.
