The Northumbria International Scholarship awards new undergraduate students joining Northumbria University at Level 4 (the first year of an undergraduate degree), as well as those joining with advanced entry to Level 5 or Level 6, a £3,000 tuition fee discount in their first year. Students then receive a further £2,000 tuition fee discount in subsequent years of study, up to a total of £7,000 across their degree. The scholarship is applied automatically as a fee discount, so no separate application is required. The scholarship is designed to help reduce the financial burden of tuition fees and make studying at the university more accessible to eligible international students. Importantly, students do not need to complete a separate scholarship application, as the discount is applied automatically to their tuition fees when they meet the relevant eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be an International student with ‘Overseas’ fee status
- Must be domiciled in one of the following countries: Bahrain, Brunei, Myanmar, Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Ghana, Lebanon, Morocco, Egypt, Kenya, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, United States, Turkey, Philippines, Jordan, Laos, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, or United Arab Emirates
- Must be a self-funded student (not in receipt of any sponsorship)
- Must be accepted and enrolled on a full-time undergraduate course at the Newcastle upon Tyne campus, starting in September 2026
- Must meet all individual course requirements
- Students progressing from a Foundation Year are eligible

Selection Criteria
There is no competitive selection process. The scholarship is applied automatically to any student who meets the eligibility criteria above. The University’s decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal. If a student defers their place, the scholarship offer is withdrawn; if a student takes a study break, the discount applied to future years is withdrawn; and if a student is required to repeat a year, the scholarship is not applied again.
