The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS) | FH Kärnten offers a range of international scholarships to attract talented students and researchers from around the world to its campuses in Carinthia, Austria. The flagship TECH Scholarship is offered in collaboration with companies and associations to inspire outstanding graduates from Europe, South America, and Mexico to pursue a technical Master’s degree in Austria, with four scholarships of €8,400 each available per cycle. The Exchange Student Grant supports incoming exchange students mainly from non-European countries who are enrolled at their home institution and wish to study at CUAS for a semester or one year.
The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS), also known as FH Kärnten, is a leading Austrian university of applied sciences founded in 1995 and located at the intersection of three cultures in the Alps-Adriatic Region of Carinthia, close to Italy and Slovenia. The university cooperates with more than 160 institutions of higher education worldwide and is renowned for its open, family-like atmosphere, small working groups, and strong industry partnerships with regional and international companies. Benefits of the Scholarship
This scholarship will provide the following to its recipients:
- TECH Scholarship: €8,400 total (€700 per month for the first two semesters); part-time employment of up to 20 hours per week at CUAS research department or partner companies in semesters 3 and 4 (subject to availability); full payment of tuition fees including ÖH contribution; free beginner-level German language immersion course
- Exchange Student Grant: A semester or one-year grant for incoming exchange students; specific value varies — contact the International Office for details
- Marshall Plan Scholarship: €4,000 to €10,000 depending on length of stay and research effort, for CUAS students conducting research at a US university or US students conducting research at CUAS; must be completed with a research paper or documentary report of at least 7,500 words

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following:
- TECH Scholarship: Must be a citizen of an eligible European, South American, or Mexican country; must not reside in Austria or hold Austrian citizenship at the time of application; must hold an excellent Bachelor’s degree; must be admitted to one of the eligible technical Master’s programmes at CUAS; must commit to full payment of tuition fees including the ÖH contribution
- Exchange Student Grant: Must be enrolled at a home institution; must have received a Letter of Acceptance issued by CUAS as an Incoming Exchange Student; must complete a minimum of 15 ECTS credits per semester; applicants mainly from non-European countries
- Marshall Plan Scholarship:** CUAS students must be enrolled in a technical study programme at CUAS and planning a research project at a US university; US students must be enrolled at a US university in a technical programme and planning a research project at CUAS; research must be completed with a report of at least 7,500 words

Selection Criteria
For the TECH Scholarship, eligible applicants who have applied to a qualifying Master’s programme at CUAS receive an email invitation with a link to complete the scholarship application; official notification of award is sent by end of June 2026. For the Marshall Plan Scholarship, an internal committee at CUAS reviews applications based on scientific preparation, study progress, and evaluation by the supervisor, after which the final decision is made by the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation in May and December. For the Exchange Student Grant, selection is managed through the International Relations Office based on standard incoming exchange student criteria.
