The Albukhary International University (AIU) Scholarship offers academically capable students from genuinely disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to pursue a Foundation or Undergraduate degree at AIU in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia, at no personal cost. Applicants who meet the academic and scholarship criteria are called for an interview session, during which AIU assesses socio-economic status, communication skills, personality and attitude, and the candidate’s defence of their Personal Statement. AIU reserves the full right to reject or terminate any scholarship application found to contain plagiarism or fraudulent information, without prior notice to the applicant.

Albukhary International University is a private, non-profit university established to widen access to quality higher education for students with strong academic potential who would otherwise be unable to afford it. The university brings together a multicultural student body from across Malaysia and around the world, with its scholarship programme run through dedicated Scholarship and Admissions Units that guide applicants from document submission through to enrolment.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following:

Age requirement: Local applicants must be 17 to 22 years old; international applicants must be 17 to 20 years old (applies to Foundation and Undergraduate programmes)
Must be single (unmarried)
Household income must fall below the applicable threshold: USD 300 or below per month for international applicants; for Malaysian applicants, MYR 2,400, MYR 2,900 or MYR 5,300
Must not have any family members previously sponsored by the Albukhary Foundation
Must meet minimum academic entry requirements: a pass in SPM/GCSE O-Level or equivalent with a minimum of 5 credits (including English and Mathematics) for Foundation in Computing; a pass in SPM or equivalent with 5 credits in any subjects for Foundation in Arts; or a CGPA of 2.8 and above in STPM/Diploma/Foundation/Matriculation/A-Level or equivalent for Undergraduate programmes
Must fulfil the English language requirement via MUET, IELTS, or TOEFL iBT at the minimum score set for the chosen programme
Must submit a completed Proof of Income Declaration Form as part of the scholarship application

Selection Criteria
