The DSU Scholarship is provided by the Agenzia Regionale Diritto allo Studio Universitario (DSU) the agency for the University Study Right of the Tuscany Regional Council (Regione Toscana) and is available to students planning to enrol or already enrolled in a degree programme at the University of Pisa. The grant is valid for only one academic year, and students must repeat the application process each academic year. Applications are submitted online only via the Sportello Studente portal by the call’s deadline, and can be submitted even if the student is not yet enrolled. The call for application is published every mid-July on the DSU Toscana website.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be planning to enroll or already enrolled in a degree programme at the University of Pisa
- Must not already hold a qualification of the same level of education as the programme being applied for
- EU students: must fill in a specific declaration, downloadable at the end of the online application procedure
- Non-EU students from developing countries: must certify that they do not belong to a high-income and high-status family; this certificate must be released by Italian diplomatic representatives in the home country or by the diplomatic representative body (Embassy or Consulate) of the country of origin in Italy, and must be legalised by the Italian Prefettura
- Other Non-EU students: must submit all documents translated into Italian and legalised by the competent Italian diplomatic representatives of the home country, or according to international provisions on legalisation, relating to family status, income, real estate, and movable assets

Selection Criteria
Candidates are ranked through a single ranking list compiled by DSU that includes both Italian and foreign students. For first-year applicants, selection is based solely on annual family income. For returning applicants, academic merit is also factored into the ranking. Foreign students with income abroad must submit documentation certifying their family’s economic status along with a valid identity document. Provisional rankings are usually confirmed by the end of September each year, with final rankings approved by the end of November. Results are published on the DSU Toscana website and in each applicant’s personal area.
