The Bond University Higher Degree Research (HDR) Scholarships are offered by Bond University to support high-achieving domestic and international students pursuing a doctoral research degree. The scholarships are funded through a combination of Bond University’s own resources and the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP). The Bond University HDR Scholarships Committee meets biannually to award fee waivers and living stipends through a merit-based selection process. Scholarship rounds are held twice per year the first round opens February 1 and closes March 31, and the second round opens August 1 and closes September 30. To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must first apply for and receive a valid Letter of Offer from Bond University’s Admissions Department for admission to a doctoral research programme before submitting a scholarship application.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following:

Must be applying for or enrolled in a full-time PhD or Professional Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at Bond University
Must hold a valid Letter of Offer from Bond University’s Admissions Department for a doctoral research programme before applying for the scholarship
Must meet Bond University’s academic merit standards for HDR scholarship consideration
Must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Australian Government designed to offset HDR fees
Must be a commencing full-time, on-campus student — Master’s students are not eligible
International students who have been awarded a scholarship but are unable to commence on campus may request a deferral to a later semester intake

Selection Criteria

The Bond University HDR Scholarships Committee meets biannually to review and award scholarships through a merit-based selection process. Candidates are assessed on the strength of their academic record, the quality and clarity of their research proposal including aims, methodology, and expected impact the relevance of their proposed research to Bond University’s research priorities, and the written agreement of a Bond University supervisor to support the research. Priority is given to commencing full-time, on-campus doctoral students. Applicants who were previously unsuccessful may submit one further application outlining a change in circumstances, after which no further applications will be accepted.
