The Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT) International Student Scholarship supports talented international students from around the world who wish to pursue professional master’s degree programmes at DGUT in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, China. The scholarship covers full tuition fees, provides a living stipend of RMB 10,000 per year, and offers additional academic scholarships based on student performanceThe Freshman Scholarship valued at RMB 20,000 per academic year matches the standard annual tuition fee, effectively providing full tuition coverage for eligible first-year students. DGUT also participates in the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students, which is administered separately. International professional master’s programmes are primarily taught in Chinese; some English support may be available, but applicants should not assume the entire degree is taught in English. Scholarship funds do not cover airfare, visa fees, residence permit costs, daily meals, or other living expenses beyond the allotted stipend.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following:

Must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport, in good health, and friendly to China
Must meet the postgraduate admission requirements for the chosen programme — typically a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
Must have a clear study plan with genuine interest in engineering, computing, business, or related applied disciplines (engineering majors preferred)
Must meet the language requirements of the applied programme: HSK Level 4 or above for Chinese-taught programmes; IELTS 6.0 or above, or TOEFL 80 or above, for English-taught programmes

Selection Criteria

Scholarship awards are determined by DGUT’s International Students Office based on academic performance, the quality of submitted application documents, and compliance with eligibility requirements. The Freshman Scholarship is awarded to newly enrolled international students who meet the scholarship criteria upon admission. University-level tuition waivers are awarded at three tiers 75%, 50%, and 25% based on the overall strength of the application. The Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship is assessed and awarded through a separate process by the Guangdong Provincial Education Department in collaboration with DGUT.
