The La Trobe University Artificial Intelligence Scholarship is an entrance award offered to outstanding international students seeking to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate coursework studies in artificial intelligence and related fields in Australia. The scholarship provides a reduction of either 50% or 100% off the total course tuition fees for eligible students enrolled in qualifying AI and technology programs at La Trobe University, covering the full duration of their studies. Unlike automatic scholarships, applicants are required to submit a formal application and must already be in receipt of an offer letter from the university before being considered.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand
  • Must not be a humanitarian or other permanent visa holder
  • Must be a full fee-paying student (non-sponsored)
  • Must be applying for direct entry into one of the eligible courses listed below; other students are not eligible
  • Must commence studies at any of the La Trobe University Victorian campuses in 2026
  • Must meet the University’s English language requirements and all other conditions stated on the Offer Letter
  • Must obtain an offer letter before selection for the scholarship (exceptions must be approved by La Trobe University)
  • Must have passed the Genuine Student assessment, including financial checks, before being considered

Selection Criteria

Selection is not automatic and requires a formal application. Eligible applicants must submit an application for their desired course and intake and be in receipt of an offer before being considered. Recipients are selected by La Trobe University based on outstanding academic performance (minimum WAM of 70), English language proficiency, and the written statement submitted in the application form. After the application deadline, applicants are ranked and shortlisted by WAM. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to a final selection round and may be asked to provide further information, attend an interview, or submit a video. The final number of successful candidates is determined through a thorough evaluation process and confirmed by the university.
