The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is a prestigious international scholarship sponsored by the United States Department of State and administered in the Middle East and North Africa region by Amideast. The programme offers graduates and professionals from diverse social, economic, academic and professional backgrounds the opportunity to pursue graduate degrees at leading universities in the United States, in virtually any field of study including the humanities, social sciences, science, technology and engineering. Graduate programs related to clinical studies such as medicine and nursing are not permitted, though applicants may apply for related academic degrees such as nursing administration, nutrition sciences and public health. Long-term English programs are also available for students who need additional support in improving their English language skills before commencing their graduate studies.
As a Fulbrighter, recipients join a dynamic global network dedicated to fostering mutual understanding between nations, sharing knowledge across communities and improving lives around the world. The programme encourages applications from all backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities and people of determination, and grants are awarded on a merit basis to passionate and driven students who are committed to returning to their home country upon completing their program and making a meaningful contribution to their communities. Fulbright admission requirements, length of the program, type of award and application instructions vary by country, and eligible countries in the MENA region include Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the UAE, West Bank and Yemen.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be a citizen or national of an eligible MENA country including Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the UAE, West Bank or Yemen
- Must have an excellent academic record
- Must demonstrate strong English language skills
- Must be committed to returning to their country or territory of nomination upon completion of the program
- Preference is given to applicants who have not previously studied or lived in the United States
- Applications are accepted in most fields of study including humanities, social sciences, science, technology and engineering. Graduate programs related to clinical studies such as medicine and nursing are not permitted
- Individuals with disabilities and people of determination are encouraged to apply

Selection Criteria
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is merit-based and selects passionate and driven students who demonstrate a commitment to making an impact in their home communities upon completing their program in the United States. A competitive applicant must have an excellent academic record, strong English language skills and a clear commitment to returning to their country or territory of nomination after the program. Preference is given to applicants who have not previously studied or lived in the United States. Fulbright Program opportunities are available to qualified individuals regardless of race, religion, national or ethnic origin, geographic location, socio-economic status, disability or gender identity.
